KeymasterI was thinking about this the other day and came up with an idea that I’m surprised I didn’t think on before but I’m going to run it past you guys and see what you think.
I am thinking to create a forum just for fault codes.
The idea is, as I don’t have the time to publish al that I come across, of a specific forum to effectively “dump” the codes in that we all find so there’s a searchable record of them.
It’s not an idea solution but, it does give somewhere to put them that they are more findable than they are at the moment.

ModeratorWhilst I am no longer ‘active’, it is definitely a good idea. A separate forum as opposed to the single thread in Trade Tech would be far more accessible. Would you keep it trade only or open to the public?

KeymasterI was thinking on it being trade only but being public might not be a bad thing.

Moderatorcant be a bad idea at least they may be in one place
one if the biggest problem sometimes is you cant seach 2 or 3 characters like F08 or has this changed. If not its would be good if it could be changed for just one forum but that probably impossible
fault codes are such a mine field. you can find different reasons for the same code within manufacturers along some fault codes are caused by something completely different

ModeratorI prefer the idea of a separate forum with each manufacturer having a single thread. That way it makes it easier for Joe public to navigate to correct brand at least.

KeymasterI think that the best plan is, for now at least, to start it and see how it goes. We can monitor it and change stuff up, merge threads etc as makes sense as we go.
I am noting some of the potential pitfalls but the consensus seems to be that it’s a good thing on the whole.
Thing is, do we make it public or just trade?

if your going that far you could do with separate forums for each major appliance but that’s a lot of work
opening to the public may help drive people to the site which could be a long term benefit. Lets face it do a google search and most codes can be found
