ModeratorNo I really do have a pain in the neck. 😥
Like most people with a bit of mileage on the clock I have had the odd stiff neck in the past. 😉
Played squash on Friday, good workout even though I lost, felt fine. Went to bed Friday night and woke with a bit of a stiff neck.
Went out to do my 6 Saturday AM calls (only work till lunch) and did have a few problems whilst driving but nothing too severe.Last night it got a bit worse so went to bed early but had an awful night, unable to get comfortable at all.
Since I got up this morning it has got progressively worse. I have a splitting headache, cannot move my head from side to side at all without severe pain, even up and down movement is restricted. It hurts when I swallow as well. The pain is now so bad that it is there even if I stay still. Have tried hot & cold applications but had to resort to strong painkillers to get even modest relief. An hour ago I tried to drive into the centre of Shaw to pick up a take away from my local Italian restaurant but had to turn back at the end of the road as it was impossible to look right or left.
Cancelled the morning calls and will try and get an emergency appointment at the docs.
Even sitting at the PC for more than ten minutes is agony, never had anything like this before, hoping it clears up as quickly as it arrived.
Jim.

Sorry to hear about you neck probs.. I have experienced that in the past… not nice at all. I had pulled a muscle in the side of my neck and was intermittantly in spasm for a week and a half.

Chiropractor – 20 minutes of legalised torture, then you can take on the world.
I have to do it fairly regularly.

I had muscle spasms in the back straight after Christmas, took three weeks to clear. All I did was slip off a 4″ kerb in the snow and jarred ny back, filled myself up with painkillers and struggled on+.
Again like you I keep fit but the felxibility is going.
Second thought you didn’t accidentally double the viagra dose did you? 😉March 8, 2010 at 8:10 am #314199Phidom

I’ve also had neck problems in windy weather. For driving I find I can manage by twisting my torso instead of my neck. Having a van with solid sides does not help with visibility but at some left junctions it helps to pull out toward the centre of the road then sharply left just before you reach the dotted line. That way you are facing the way you need to look.

Spent two hours sat in the docs waiting room. now have a pile of anti inflammatory nsaids and some strong painkillers.
The quack thinks my neck has gone into spasm and has more or less ‘locked up’
I am hoping the painkillers kick in soon, it is getting worse by the hour, it took me 30 minutes to eat a sinlge muffin for my lunch, it was painful trying to open my mouth wide enough and every swallow hurt as well.
As always at time like these the phone has been ringing off the wall. 😥

About 2 years ago my lower back went into a spasm after I stood awkwardly for a couple of hours. Was in absolute agony but the doc was superb. First rate diagnosis. It will be two weeks before you can walk properly and about 3 weeks before light work she said- spot on. The tramdol and diazipan worked a treat, was getting 13 or 14 hours straight sleep some nights. Not slept like that since I was teenager. Never had either of those drugs before and the doc said “you will like the feeling”- she said smilling at me. She wasn’t wrong 🙂
Get well soon, don’t try and over do it

Went out yesterday morning, just about managed to do a couple of calls. Had a few more in the afternoon but halfway through a WMA rear half change the painkillers started to wear off and I knew I had to get out of there and get home ASAP. 😥
Trying to drive with a splitting headache and no head movement at all is almost impossible and not very safe either.
Got three done this morning but all the chemicals I am pouring down my throat are making me feel a bit squiffy now.
Going to take the painkillers with me plus a banana or something this afternoon as they have to be taken with food.
Can’t spend to much time at the keyboard, that is really uncomfortable. 😥

Book yourself a last minute somewhere warm and give the body a chance to heal.
Knee’s with me at the minute but hoping warmer weather will soon be here which should help. -
