KeymasterI’ve just replaced a rental appliance for an old customer, been to Factory Shack and bought an indesit WI 101 UK retail(cause its no cheaper trade) at £169.99. Put it straight on my van and installed an hour later.
Reading the bumf that comes with it I could insure it for 5 years including 12 month warrenty for…£169.00, I could buy another for that. So why would I want to insure it? Well according to the parts CD the motor for this machine has a retail of £101.85 inc.
D&G this morning “wrote off” an indesit we have attended on their behalf because it wanted the very same motor. D&G underwrite the indesit scheme too. We carry that motor as van stock…whats the point. So who’s kidding who, why is an appliance being written off so easily and what profit margin is Factory Shack working to?
I know its Friday but…….
whilst washers are available at this price there is no hope to sell spares.

Corrected to: whilst washers are available at this price there is no hope to sell spares at the ludicrous prices that are asked for them, which bear no relation at all to the price of the appliance on the high street.
I’ve been on about this for ages and apparently the OFT are looking into it, but without consumer pressure it may well be a lost cause.

20 Years ago Co-op were selling a Candy W/Machine for £169.00. Yes I did say 20 years ago.
One of our local cowboys drove down there & bought the entire stock for parts as they were such a bargain.
Says it all.

Gentlemen, instead of us all talking about the obvious infallability of the lastest offering from the Merloni campus, and posting our comments here (for only the trade members to read). How about publishing this info in our public area so smart eyed GOOGLE can spread the word and reach Joe Public? 💡
Could I please ask Kevin to ‘post’ a ‘review’ of the Indesit WI 11UK (i.e Bargain Basement Price but replacement parts are prohibitably expensive, they suffer a high short term failure rate and unless you take out extended insurance it is unlikely to be economically repairable after the 12 months warranty)
That comment is no exageration, based on fact and will have far more impact which surely is exactly what you and I need the buying public to know? AND unless they get this information from the likes of UKW they will continue to buy this junk and we will all be out of a job 👿
A right pickle eh?…what do you reckon?
