A Special day for Bosch ????

What a day, today 2 of my Bosch appliances have become faulty.

1st the most overworked appliance in the house the WTA2000 has stopped drying there is no heat I have tried the reset button but this had not popped so no joy, I have checked the vent hose for any blockages, nothing there so I am hoping some1 can point me in the right direction

2nd the Bosch fridge freezer has started icing up beneath the bottom drawer in the freeer part, the ice is like a huge ice cube and drip marks can be seen on the interior bottom panel, it takes a day or so after I have cleared the ice to refill and start dripping onto the kitchen floor, I have looked around the back at the drip tray and the pipe does not appear blocked as I can squeeze the water that is in the pipe from the end connected nearest to the freezer and the water comes through the pipe and into the drip tray, any pointers on this also greatly appreciated.

Last thing I want with crimbo round the corner is to have to sheel out for a new dryer and fridge freezer

Your WTA2000 has come all the way from Brighouse and is in fact a White Knight in a posh frock!

The good news is that this will almost certainly be a thermostat (there are two control stats as well as the safety) or heater failure, the parts are very resonably priced and easily available.

Check in the Directories section for a local UKW engineer, or pop your post code up here and someone will pick up on it.

Can’t tell you much about the fridge, one of the lads will be able to advise you.

Whatever you decide to do, pull the plug first!

Tony, could you post the model number of the fridge/freezer please.

It’s a defrost problem of some sort but I’ll need to look at the diagram to advise further.

Checked the directory nearest UKW engineer to me is Blackpool which would be a 100 mile round trip.

Would I not be able to get a sta myself and fit it?

This is an electronically controlled frost free fridge freezer, it won’t have a thermostat in the sense that you refer to Tony.

There will be a problem within the defrost function of the freezer which could be one of a few things causing it.

What is your postcode ? I’ll check a few other lists I have.

Well not sure what has happened perhaps my squeezing on the drip tray pipe has freed something as there are now no drips inside the freezer and more importantly no excesses of ice.

So back to the dryer now, would I be able to source the part that has been suggested on here and fit it myself, incidentally I am in sk8 postcode area Cheshire

It’s a fairly straightforward job to fit the part(s) Tony, it’s the diagnosis which may be the issue though. As Penguin said, there are three thermostats and the element, any of which could be causing this fault.

Have a word with Simon, he will be able to help with this for you.

Got in touch with Simon, and he came around and replaced a stat and the element, absolutely 1st class service can’t recommend enough. Will definitely be ringing him again if any of our other appliances have problems.
