KeymasterTo all the people that took time out to attend the meetings of the last couple of days especially the people that had us all rivetted and inspired with the presentations that were given by Ian Wardle from Proctor & Gamble, Sean Delaney from Deltec (who we all know and slag off quite well ) and Gareth Roberts from Valpack. Of course we will be publishing the minutes in the next day or so as we do so you can read all about from them as well as see the photos once the hangovers subside as it was a pretty heavy night last night, but I wanted to thank you all for the contributions and support this evening anyway.
I would also like to say that that was the best meeting that I’ve been to in a long, long time. The comments and banter was excellent and, I hope, extremely constructive and useful for all atendees with many stating in advance that they’d see us in September.
We will have some more space in September as we need it as it was, almost literally, standing room only on Friday morning!
And the hotel just loves us, apparently the hotel was virtually fully booked by us and the bar takings for the two nights we were there were exceptional… I wonder why! :rotfl:

A word of thanks indeed.
Ken and the team that arranged the seminar are to be thanked. It seems we may have outgrown the location, but we are assured there are expansion plans at Millers, and they are prepared to let us use the Dining Room for any future conferences should we require more space.
The meal provided for the day was first class, and it was a shame we could not eat it all. Maybe next time we will look at asking confirmation regards those who choose to say for lunch. If anyone didn’t get to stay for food, you missed a treat.
I also would like to thank those that were able to make it who were representing the work providers and manufacturers. It was very encouraging to see the support and indeed the input generated by all of the above. It was good to be able to put faces to names, and I hope this support will continue on future meetings.
The weather forecast was terrible, and may have been the reason there were some “no-shows”. Never-the-less, those who made it I’m sure will agree it was a very informative and progressive couple of days.
Regards the tales of excess on the alcohol front, It wasn’t quite as you might think. We were not there as a glorified p**s up and we continued the discussions quite lucidly and sensibly in the bar for a long time. Of course as the evening progressed the barriers came down a bit, and I think that session was as rewarding as the meeting earlier on the Friday.
I am looking forward to the next one in September, as long as it doesn’t clash with my holiday. If it does, maybe I can give a link for an idea of a venue in Northern Italy. Good hotel, overlooking a lake into Switzerland, and cheap wine.
Ciao.
Alex

…..don’t thank us Ken ❗
Instead thank yourself for the whole concept UKW and what you’ve created now gives the trade a platform to stand on, to share and interact in a constructive and creative way benefiting all. 😀
I am sure the trade and all its many representatives that attended the meeting will now fully appreciate the importance and the potential that UKW provides.
So, thank you UKW!

Thank guys, I’m glad you liked it.
Dave and Kevin also put a lot of work into this meeting and they should not be missed, especially Dave who booked all the rooms and organised all that side of the meetings. Kevin of course we’d have to gag to shut him up!
But no, it was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it all and, whilst I may jest about it, as much “business” was done at the bar as it was during the day. Of course Alex is correct, whilst it was not a p**s up it was far more relaxed and all the more enjoyable for it in the evening. But then we’ve always been about being more relaxed on many topics.
There is a delay in the minutes I’m afraid as, after a call earlier from Dave this evening (like an hour or so ago), there’s just so much to type up! There is a slew of information to get on there in a format that people that were unable to attend will understand what went off and some of the ideas that were floated can be understood as it’s a lot to take in frankly, They will be up soon and the “training” presentation I will make available for download along with them but we all have to get some sleep you know. Plus Dave, Kev and I have been hard at work on a few projects over the past few weeks, to the extent I worry that the kids won’t recognise me anymore! 😆

I’d also like to add my thanks to the guys that weren’t at the meetings for keeping the public informed and answering posts..
Cheers guys 😀
The minutes will be done tonight as well so they should be available for download in the morning.
Dave.

Yeah…thanks for coming and listening and joining in the debates, where ever the location.
We here at UKW take a lot away from a meeting like this. What you say matters and makes a difference, its nice to say it in person, face to face for a change.
Its also an opportunity to bring you into the frame as we did with Sean, at short notice I think he did a grand job (with his presentation)…well done mate.

The real credit should go to the admin team of UKW who not only came up with an original concept to fund training but also transfered it into a power point presentation that practically sold it’self.
I do have to say though, that I was very pleasently surprised, as to how well it was recieved by all those in attendance.
Let us now see if we can all work together to turn it into a reality.
