Hi, have searched every where but I cannot find any guides or advice for what sounds a common problem hence this post.

After taking the sides, top and loosening the front of my CTD80 I’ve found the belt has gone. I’ve bought a new one and will try fitting it later, from what I can see I need to go in through the back and undo the motor to fit it.

Has anyone done this repair before and/ or can offer some advice to save me some sanity and possible some skin from my knuckles.

    Thanks,

    Brian

take off top and both sides

remove rear bearing pin, then remove the screwas holding the water container to the back panel

take the hoses off, and the back panel should be free (ish)

after undoing the metal side bar, you can egt the drum out by pulling the back away, the drum will come out of the side

take the fan cover off, and feed the new belt over the fan and slip it onto the motor shaft

slide the belt over the drum, and place the drum back, making sure the belt goes over the pulley, this makes it easier

not a nice job.. did one today, and im still bleeding

id advise some good gloves, the panels are incredibly sharp

oh, and be sure the plug is out

and cos its a ctd80. u may need to unfasten the pcb and let it dangle, or the drum wont pull out

    Hi, just seen your post.

Up to this bit at the moment “take the fan cover off, and feed the new belt over the fan and slip it onto the motor shaft” Just struggling to get it on to the shaft. Hard bit seems to be between the shaft and then plastic support.

Well managed to get it all back together and…the drum is not spinning and there is a strange noise from the bottom of the dryer. I’ve had a enough for tonight, will start again tomorrow.

Ok, I got everything back together with only a few cuts.

The problem I have is the machine keeps throwing the belt. Having stripped it back down it looks like the black “pulley” wheel is to loose and has a lot off movement.

Should it be like this or do I need to find a way to restrict the slack?

    Thanks

the pulley wheel is what takes up the slack, and u need to line up the belt on the drum with the motor manually and slowly until its inline before you switch it on. If it aint lined up it will throw the belt.
No the black pulley shouldnt be so slack.
My guess is you need a new jockey pulley.

check the rear bronze-colour bearing for wear too. theres almost certainly a reason why your belt went, and its not usually thru just w&t on the belt, especially when you have a jockey tensioning wheel. could well be the jockey wheel jamming, or the actual drum jamming at the front
