ParticipantACA9102 Bottom Arm Not Rotating
Before i start, great place….
AND
Before you say it, I Know……. its not the best dishwasher i could of bought in hindsight. 😳Anyway, my wife informed me that the dishes were not being cleaned on the bottom basket.
I had a look and the bottom spray arm isnt rotating. The top is and the crockery on here is washing fine.
After playing with it for a while my wife then informed me that the other day the dishwasher started beeping but after a while seemed to go ok?!?!?! 😯 😕 :rolls:This, after searching these forums, i found to be the flood switch.
I put this right and it is now back to normal (ie – all ok except for bottom spray not working). could it be stuck in half load mode?!
has anybody any ideas?
Thanks in anticipation. 🙂

first thing is check for food bits stuck in the little holes on the spray arm, if so clean it out thouroghly, also check that you can spin it around easily by hand and also check sump filter nice and clean

i have cleaned the arm, the filters but no joy?
The arm spins freely.
Has anybody any ideas i can try? or come across this before?

Check you havent selected half load, half load will switch off water supply to one of the spray arms through a solenoid valve on the wash pump, other than that it will be either the solenoid on the wash pump faulty or the PCB control…. switch off power first before working on it, good luck 🙂

Thanks
1/2 load isnt selected and does light when pressed
the solonoid? i have seen it but not done anything with it (worth a change? are they expensive)
i dont envy anyone that works on diskwashers for a living…. you need the hands of a baby on arms of an octopus. everything need taking apart to do minor repairs.im at a loss now 🙁

The solenoid isnt available as a spare part on its own, it comes with the complete wash pump, nightmare of a job to change the wash pump even for us experienced Engineers 😯
IMO I would get an experienced Engineer to undertake this repair for you, as I said it could also be the PCB not switching the valve on but it will have to be tested to find that out :rolls:August 9, 2009 at 11:01 pm #293732stevieag

right
im confused
i presumed that a solenoid would normally be closed and also fail closedthis i would presume right if its failed that i now get only top spin as lower in shut off BUT
i have measured voltage at pcb at the 1/2 value output. on full load i get 2v at 1/2 load i get 240v?
this is confusing as id expect current to open the valve for normal wash not close for 1/2😕
still not sure, if pcb or solenoid

maybe its a mechanical problem with the solonoid and its possibly stuck in the closed position, the only way to check that is to get off and have a look, that pcb sounds ok.
unplug from mains and have a look

As Martin said it maybe a mechanical problem or a blockage in the wash pump the only way to check is to take wash pump off and inspect it, power off first.

when its washing open the door and close it again if u hear a tiny thump with in like 1-2 secs its the valve stopping the water getting to bottom spray arm.
i,ve done a hand full of these where the solonoid is faulty and water only comes out of top spay arm in past. -
