What’s your thoughts on getting someone on admin for a fixed cost?

    I have a plan if it’s a go-er. 😉

    Re: Admin

What I’m thinking is that we have an admin body at a fixed cost up to say, 300 members. Over that it would need to be reviewed as the volumes would increase.

There’s a lot of pluses to the idea.

    Phone cover
    Registration processing
Chasing liability and Gas Safe certification etc.
    OFT!!!!
OFT monitoring and all that malarky

    Loads more probably.

    Re: Admin

It is a good idea as a person working for the WTA can like you say, do all the tasks that only get done when people have spare time. An employed person for registration process is a must IMO and will defo be needed at some point so why not! And, would be good to have a name to go with the contact number / address 🙂

Do you have an idea what the fixed cost will be?

I reckon that the cost would be between five and seven thousand per year.

I think it is a must now to enable us to go up a gear …

    Re: Admin

That currently works out at approx. 100 members subs. How many members do we have at this time?

Over 100 with the Amica stuff that’s back. 😉

It will need recalculated now and, that’s part of the problem, there’s a mountain of applications in, I reckon about 100 but I’m not sure how many are already WTA or signing up to it.

    Re: Admin

Well I would say if the subs cover the admin then go for it.

    Re: Admin

Okay, I’ll just get it done.

I was thinking about it though from an OFT perspective. Ade, this should kill that whole thread about how we monitor the guys shouldn’t it? We can now dedicate time toward doing response stuff and, if required, even do it by phone if it’s possible.

    Re: Admin

Definately! It would be much better to go to the OFT next time, and be able to anounce that we have an employee that as part of their job description, will be WTA member COP monitoring!

Besides which, for where we want the WTA to go, eventually, there is going to be toooooo much for us all to do in our ‘Spare time’. Meaning things will take lots longer as we all have work, wives, kids etc that take up most of our time! So ultimately, an employee would be an asset IMO to the WTA 🙂

If you have someone in mind, it might be an idea for that person to be with us in August? They can get a thourough insight to the COP aproval process and get some insight into what’s required after aproval? And if you haven’t got anyone in mind, advertise, like now 😆

Also, regarding applications / member admin, that does need IMO someone to deal with internally, altough I know we set tasks etc for different people, that side of it needs a ‘Dedicated’ Administrator.

Back to the COP, it would be good to be able to take ‘Mr / Mrs X’ to the OFT next meeting and say………….. Mr OFT, this is our monitoring bod! If you get me?!

    Ade 🙂

    Re: Admin

Just remember, £14-16K buys you an admin girl not someone that will run an operation, they’ll still need instruction on what to do which is what we do.

What it saves is all of us having to nonce about doing all the menial and day-to-day stuff that can easily be passed off to admin. Like the card printing and monitoring, the OFT responses thing, membership payments, giving out info on membership on the phone or by mail, collecting and collating information like Gas Safe, liability insurance, updating the website with stuff, membership lists….

There’s a few bits and bobs that need doing and kept up to date. 😉

Just being able to do all that is, IMO, going to lend a lot more of a professional image to the WTA and, let’s face it, none of us really has the spare time to get it all done and, importantly, keep it that way.

What we do have time to do is the big stuff and that’s what we’re good at. None of us are particularly fond or good I imagine at the mundane stuff. TBH we mostly can’t be bothered with it after a day’s graft.

I’ve been thinking about it and the more I look at what needs doing and, will need doing to progress, it’s not a case of this is a “nice to have”, it’s a “we really must have it” if we want to move forward. Of course that’s just my own personal opinion and it’s really up to you guys what you want done but I’m sure you get where I’m coming from with this.

I do have someone in mind that is extremely admin focussed, Nicola. That’s what she does and she is very good at it, excellent in fact and you can guarantee that anything you want done will get done to the letter of what you request. The other good thing is that Nicola has spent almost two years now doing NW and ISE service so she has a very good knowledge of how “stuff” works if you know what I mean. Plus, she did all the FGAS stuff and a lot of the membership stuff as it is now so she’s already got a working knowledge of many of the WTA systems.

Oh and she does accounts as well. She’s done the NW ones for the past two years with very good results.
