ParticipantThe document here mentions some Admrial fridges – but they all seem to be discontinued – in fact, it seems impossible to find any Admiral products in the UK.

Has Admiral been sucked into the Maytag brand?

Hi aris
The refrigeration has indeed been sucked into the Maytag and Amana brands. Their laundry range is still available though.HTH

Thanks for the response. I suspect your article needs updating then 🙂 Which fridges would you recommend to replace the ones which have been discontinued in that article?
Thanks,

US refrigeration is a nightmare at the moment. 😕
GE is good but, GE is trying to flog off their entire appliance business and something appears to be going on with UK/EU distribution so goodness knows where that’ll end up.
Maytag, the pukka units are good and not the rebadged Whirlpool ones, but that’s all been changing and I’ve no clue what’s good and what’s bad right now.
Anything Korean, take a long pole and make sure you never get close enough to prod one with it. 😉
Beko, not much to tell, they’ve not been in that game long enough to formulate a true opinion but, since they are at the budget end of that market, that are an alternative to the Koreans.
I don’t know how good/bad the Bosch/Neff/Siemens ones are but I have heard that there has been issues with them.
I’ll stand by my Liebherr recommendation as the best of the bunch.
Most of the others are badged up versions of something else.

How does one find out if a Maytag is a re-baged Whirlpool unit?
I suspect that I may go for a Liebherr in the end (not necessarily an american style one). My current Hotpoint is 13 years old – still “working” but a bit small for our growing family needs, and it also tends to freeze stuff near the back wall of the fridge. Annoying to say the least.

If the water filter is at the bottom and on the grill, it’ll look like this one, then it’s a Whirlpool.
Liebherr is an excellent choice in refrigeration, probably the best domestic refrigeration you’ll get at remotely sensible money. 😉
