    Hi

We have an Admiral (Whirlpool made) side-by-side American style fridge freezer model GC2027HNKBS and the ice dispenser is playing up.

The fault seems to lie with the microswitch that is activated when you push the glass up to the ice dispenser. Sometimes after a great deal of wiggling, the switch will trip correctly and out comes the ice, but most of the time nothing.

I think this is a job I could manage myself quite easily if only I could get into the control panel. All the online guides I can find have the plastic surround for the controls clipped onto the front of the door and levering a few plastic tabs eases it off, but ours seems to be behind the stainless steel door front.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way of getting to the internals of the control panel to replace this switch without disassembling the whole door?

I can post pics if that will help.

    Cheers
    Chris.

    Hi Chris, All

Did you manage to get access to the control panel behind the metallic freezer door (see photo)? Or has anyone on the forum managed to do this? As Chris says, there are no obvious slots to prise off the surround. In fact, the surround is obviously behind the edge of the hole in the metallic door. I am thinking of buying the Admiral manual but I’m not sure if it will show how to get access to the control panel.

My fridge/freezer is an Admiral GC2027HNKBS. A relay behind the temperature indicators (again, see photo) is clicking around once per second, though it gets slightly faster when I turn on the kettle. If I turn on the Vacation option, the clicking stops. I’ve replaced the capacitors on the rear control panel but the relay continued to click so I’m looking to replace the capacitors on the front control panel.

    Thanks
    Steve
