ParticipantHi,
I am having trouble with my Admiral side by side fridge freezer ice dispenser.
The dispenser works as it should, however when I attempt to dispense ice cubed rather than crushed the solenoid at the back of the ice tray makes a loud rattle along with the display at the front flashing.
A video from the front is here: https://youtu.be/T0BWbpKIOYo
And from the inside: https://youtu.be/4LlyV04lcg4I would get a new fridge freezer however it is nearly impossible to get this unit out of the house due to it being built around when the house was refurbished, I did have AO.com attempt a delivery yesterday of a new Samsung unit, but the delivery guys couldn’t take this unit away as it’s over 200kg and needs taking round the back of the house (up steps).
Please could anyone help with what may be wrong (I suspect the solenoid at the back which is jumping up and down might be the issue) and what spare part I will need to order?
Thanks

Hi all,
Just thought I’d let everyone know that changing the temperature of the freezer to -19c or above has stopped the issue.
Troubleshooting steps included disconnecting the solenoid to see if the panel still flashed, it did, so it looks to be a PCB fault

PCB faults tend to come and go sometimes with these Whirlpool built machines as capacitors slowly weaken.
I had one which was doing exactly the same as yours and it was the front PCB which I sent away to be repaired.
Access to the PCB on your fridge is gained by removing the cladding on the freezer door which comes off fairly easily after removing the door handle.Steve.

Thanks Steve, excellent information – I will most certainly get the PCB repaired next time the fault comes round.
Best wishes
