Hi, i have had some trouble with my Diplomate ADP8132 dishwasher where the 1st and 5th LEDs light up just after the initial rinse on the ECO programme. I seem to have cleared the fault by cleaning gunk out of the drainage pipe (black flap) with my finger and pouring in some boiling water (a tip found on another post). Whats the best way to give the washer a good cleaning? I’m not sure of the age, or if the previous owners looked after it. I have tried the Finish diswasher cleaner, is this best?

Nice skinny bottle brush up the rest of the pipe will get rid of most of the goo. Unfortunately, there is no circulation through that area of the machine, so any cleaning product will not have an effect.

Thanks for that. So what’s the function of this pipe?

It’s the transfer pipe from the fill chamber on the side of the machine. If it gets choked, water backs up in the chamber and all sorts of odd things start to happen……… as you’ve found out.
