I am living in Sicily at the moment where summer temps can reach 48 deg and am forced to have integrated fridge freezer due to new kitchen layout. Our previous one was a good Electrolux but had numerous issue from onset with the fridge. We were told lack of airflow due to built in cabinet etc. After only 6 yrs it now needs replacing as the fridge packed up completely.
The tech guy who came out said ‘spend as little as possible’ and to get the ‘ignore brand & get cheapest I can’. I have a sense that this is because he believes that with the high temps here and lack of space it wont last long and so not cost effective.
I happily accept this, but wanted to get a 2nd opinion. If there is a brand that copes better with less space/high ambient temp? If so I am happy to spend more.
    Thanks in advance.

So if you purchase locally in Sicily you will will purchase the correct appliance ambient temperature range. Yes buying a cheaper appliance may be the answer but also factor in the installation charges etc each time.

Personally I would if you can get them would be to look at the Liebherr range not cheap but they are the best. If anything is going to cope then these have the best chance.

Research as much as possible inquire what friends and neighbours have. I have included the following ambient temperature chart for information.

You could ask the Engineer if he can fit a small air circulation fan, like a small computer fan in the compressor area and wire to run with the compressor, this will give you some air movement behind the unit, it is possible as I have done it myself in the past.

Thank you Tony. I will ask. I have to say the say I notice the side panel of the kitchen unit gets very hot too. If i lay my hand on it I can feel the heat coming from the fridge freezer. I have already removed the ‘front door’ part of the kitchen unit as that was so cumbersome. I am sure that didn’t help with the airflow.
