    Good morning,

I am having a new kitchen. It’s a small room with limited space so I’m keen to maximise storage potential. I currently have a chimney style hood but I am keen to have a canopy style hood placed in the bottom of a cupboard, with rest of the space above being used for storage. Is this possible? The kitchen company I’m dealing with are advising me not to use the extractor cabinet for storage space as this is technically a fire hazard! Is this true? It seems that odd that I cannot use this space for storing utensils etc.

The hood itself will not be fed to the exterior as the wall it’s attached to is detached to the next property.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hi

From a safety aspect I totally agree with your installers, cooker hoods are notorious for holding grease etc in the filters if it did catch fire you would be adding fuel to it by using the extra space for storage.

Pages 11 and 12 of the Bosch instructions here is the way to go in order to stay safe.

    Don
