Advice Please on Fridge Freezer

Hi,

Would really appreciate some advice!

About a year ago I purchased a John Lewis JLSS2009 frost free fridge freezer. Has been a disaster from start to finish, and after going wrong for the 3rd time, John Lewis have finally agreed to replace it with another of our choice from their website, up to the same value (£649) although I’m assuming we could pay the extra if we wanted one more expensive.

We need one with a max width of 59.5cm and with approx a 70:30 fridge:freezer ratio, preferably in stainless steel. The current one has a max fridge capacity of 281l.

We need to decide within a day! Which one should we go for? Have we just been unlucky with the John Lewis one – are they normally reliable?

Hi Nicole

Firstly I would say well done John Lewis Partnership for great customer care.

Their own badged refrigeration is usually produced by Zanussi which is one of the best out there in most price brackets. I would say you have just been unlucky on this occasion.

Take a peek at the Bosch, Siemens and Miele machines, this Siemens as an example would be a good bet.

John Lewis came through in the end, but it took hours of phone calls to get this result ….and 2 weeks last October with no working fridge 🙁

The Siemens one looks good…but I think the fridge would be a little small for us. Am tempted by the similar John Lewis model

I notice that the Which report seems to be recommending lots of Samsung models, which surprises me somewhat..any thoughts?

Hi

It`s pretty much well documented in these forums that the Samsung products when working are good value for money appliances. Service attention and spare parts can be slow to say the least.

The JLP model ( Zanussi ) more than likely is still a good machine, I just think that the others on offer are better 😉
