Another problem with my 10 yr old AEG 1571 washer dryer.

Occasionally the machine will just stop mid-cycle – giving no error code but with the single digit “1” in the time remaining display. The only way to get it going again is to switch it off for some time and then start again. This can happen on any cycle, including drying, and at any time in the cycle

This issue also appears to be connected to how much the machine has been used recently with it more likely to occur if the machine has been run for a few hours that day.

As well as the failing ventilator (another thread) this machine does have a noisy (therefore failing?) circulation pump (a replacement is on order) but I don’t think that it can be related to that as that should not be used during a drying cycle.

A previous post on a similar issue suggests cleaning the drain hoses – I did this a couple of weeks ago, gave it a “hot wash” and used a proprietory washing machine cleaner – that may have eased the problem but it still happens occasionally,

From noting the times when it happens it appears that there is no single component that is being used each time so I am at a loss to know where to look now
