Unlucky day
ParticipantReading up about this online it seems a common fault, but help required. The control unit I believe costs over £100. A call out charge another £50. toying with repair or replace if this is the case.
I have removed the pcb and underneath the relay 2 points look discoloured, although well soldered ( no expert mind)
Is there any way i can check if this is definately faulty?
I have also located the heating element in the back. not sure what to test here with the multimeter.
The plug in plastic connector has 2 metal contacts on the element body – reading 0v. Unsure of where to test for the resistance as these points have no resistance indicating dead heater element I believe. heater also has earth i believe and a strange pipe like connection which goes around the element body

Test meter across the heater terminals should show c.25ohms. If you get that, you can eliminate the heater.

Thanks
I presume the heater terminals are where the white clip connects to the heater body and are +ve and -ve and you test with power off.
just there is also an earth connection and a long hard wire connection that travels the length of the element also.
Also the pcb is out of the machine too, does this matter

Pull the connector plug out of the heater and measure thee resistance across the two terminals revealed. That’s all you have to do…..

No resistance measured – Guess the heater is no good.
If i replace it – any idea how to remove the black hose attached to the element. It’s a 3way hose but how do you get the clips off at the far end, access is poor and it’s too far away too reach easily.
everything else is disconnected.

It’s b’ awkward – those spring rings are viscious. I rather think I removed the hose on the last one I did, hooked up the heater, then put the hose back. Still a swine……
Part number for heater is 50277796-00/4 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to get you one promptly.

Cheers penguin45
All sorted just the faulty element, removing the clips was the hardest part.
thanks again 🙂
