ModeratorOld German made machine. Enr 606384252, Fnr 112 970091.
Customer said it stuck in cycle, ” just making a noise”.
Switched on and heard a motor running and faint swishing of water but nothing in tub. Thought at first it could be drain pump due to flooded base or similar but it is the main circulation pump that is running.
I did get it to stop running and just drain by manually advancing the timer.
Set it to a rinse only programme, it filled for a few seconds then main motor kicked in but there was no sign of any water in the the tub and the arms where not rotating, advanced it one click, motor stopped and it then filled normally, motor switched on and washed normally. I allowed it to continue and it went to the end of the cycle, drained and switched off.
Anyone have any experience of these oldies, could it be a timer fault?
Jim.

Hi Jim, how’s you?
About the only thing that goes wrong with those is a blockage in the chamber on the LHS…plays havoc with water level control usually because the pressure chamber part of it can’t drain.
It’s impossible to clean the chamber as it’s moulded shut so a new one required…comes as a kit. The old one is moulded onto the sump so it has to be hacksawed(!) off but the kit includes a rubber sleeve and clips to attach it.
Done a few over the years, managed to do it from underneath but if you’ve not done one before the LHS panel off gives better access as there’s a push-on plastic ‘thing’ that braces the chamber against the bottom frame.
Not too bad a job really…

ooh yeah, memories. was a 3/4 a day a few years back. Defo need that side panel off an also release the door spring as it runs across the chamber. Need careful psoitioning to stop it catching on the the new chamber once fitted. Cannot have done one for 5 years now. Might even have one in stock I would dearly love to get rid of if so. Will let you know later.
Must admit usual fault was water in the base as it had a overflow drain on the pressure chamber that released water into the base if blocked.August 9, 2012 at 9:33 am #379211iadom

Agghh,
Just about to fit this part which is as you all say badly clogged, only to find there is a slight leak on the drain pump. Not enough to trip the float but certainly not something I can ignore.
Anyone know the part number?Jim.

You need to know that it’s a FAV445i (Favourit.) in order to ditinguish it from the 3000 odd other models.
Connect have a pattern pump in stock for £20. It is listed as fitting the following models also, though this will by no stretch of the imagination be a complete fit list.
BK111 445SGA 420SGA 525SGA 520SGA 428 444 465 466 578 620 625

Don’t deal with Connect, found gen part number is 8996464032474.
Seriously expensive and out of stock everywhere I have tried.
It’s a pity I don’t have any old pump glands seals left to fit this old style, shaded pole motor pump.

I don’t know what they did to you but ain’t it time to bury the hatchet? They can’t force anybody to work for them, least of all you.

Don’t have anything specific against them. Just wouldn’t give them enough business to get any sort of a decent discount.
Never had any dealings with them at all.

I’ve never given any wholesaler much business but the prices they give me don’t seem to be adversely affected by that, except that some will flog it to ebay customers cheaper. In which case I become an ebay customer. Sorted!
