My AEG 64800 dishwasher [Ern 911786005] reported AL3 at the end of the cycle – it also remained on the initial phase for the full cycle length (ie prewash). Wasn’t heating the water either even when the initial cycle was main wash.

Checked your message board and the heater element looked to be the culprit so changed it. But it hasn’t solved the problem although the symptoms have changed.

The cycle moves on to the main wash phase (from prewash) but the water still isn’t getting hot. Then the countdown timer gets “stuck” (on one occaison with 1 minute to go!) so the cycle never ends, and no alarm is reported.

Re-checked the old element and it has a resistance of about 40 Ohms, so maybe it was OK.

So… it could be the control board or perhaps the thermostat? Or would they report a different code? Could it be anything else?

    I’m stuck, please help!

Hi Andyman, the AL3 indicates that the water temp rise has not been sensed.
This could be due to the Safety Stat, broken wiring, NTC sensor or the Power Module being at fault.
pull the plug before checking please.

    Cheers
    Martin
