KeymasterI have taken drawer out and washed, rinsed soaked, etc.
at the end of a wash cycle / once programme has completed there is dilute fabric conditioner still present in the drawer compartment – the smell of the washign etc. does indicate though that some of the fluid is being rinsed through (washing smells of conditioner but less than before)
the compartment will drain if you pull out drawer and push in again quickly but is not flushing through and emptying during program (whichit used to)
any ideas?
would like to get it fixed because I use distilled vinegar when washing nappies as a ‘rinse aid’ and this helps to keep nappies fresher as it is antibacterial / deodorising etc. and not working as well at moment as compartment not flushing through it appears properly!May 31, 2005 at 3:59 pm #136510Martin

Now you have cleaned the dispenser drawer, give the dispenser chamber a good clean, paying great attention to blocked spray nozzles 😀

oh my word what and where are these??
are these the objects in top / roof of compartment above drawer?
any tips what to clean with?
also while I have help here, what else can I do to stop fur stuff growing in my drawer and compartment – I lawyas leave drawer open and wash regularly but I assume the nasties love the warmth and ‘food’ they find in the drawer – fabric conditioner is bogging stuff really!May 31, 2005 at 4:27 pm #136512Martin

Spot on
Bottle brush, old toothbrush or even a thin piece of wire poked up the holes will clear the limescale/bacteria blockage. 😉
(Tip:…. using the soap dispenser with conventional detergent granules in the wash will help clear the black/brown build-up of bacteria – cheaper too per washload than tablets)

right nasty job done now to best of ability for time being
considering I only use liquid straight in ball in drum and then fabric conditioner occasionally I cannot understand why I have so much of all that black stuff – yeukkk
the fabric conditioner also too has tendency to congeal like white fudge I have noticed in past at very back of compartment – evil stuff – which is why I use vinegar more often than not as eco friendly and cheaper detergent rinse
as mentioned before I always leave draw pulled out to minimise wet and warmth

Ah, that’s why then, you’re using liquids. 😉
Liquids are great under certain conditions but not all. They shouldn’t have any bleaching agents in them like conventional powders or tablets and so there’s nothing there to kill the bugs as it were. I’d suggest moving to a decent powder if you’re having problems and use the liquids for pre-treating stains.
As for the conditioner, yep I despise the stuff myself but please don’t be tempted to use the cheap ones as they are inferior in my opinion, very. Same with powders, you may save a few pence a pack on these things but it’s honestly not worth the hassle and poorer results.
If you want to cure your conditioner problem along with the liquids issue give Bold a try.

Why use fabric conditioner at all? For the most part it is just formulated perfume that does naff all to most fabrics, some even increase their flamability!
AND….
Liquid detergents are the reason your colours fade so quickly, your knicker elastic loses its ‘twang’, your door gasket goes brown, dispenser goes black and the machine stinks every time you open the door!
So there :lesson:

so using powder will reduce these problems?what is in liquid then is so yuk? going to go back to using powder!
will try bold but for washing cloth nappies anyway need to use reduced amount of detergent and no conditioner! I avoid non bio because I am told it has more bleach – my child reacts to this is I use to wash her nappies but for some reason is fine with low dose of bio with rinse plus setting!
powder is cheaper than liquid anyway! -
