ParticipantHi, my AEG Washer dryer is failing a few seconds after you try to start on any program and goes back to the time remaining, the start light flashing, door light goes off. No error code. You hear the pump run for a few seconds.
I changed the motor brushes and cleaned the motor, this seems to cure it for the odd wash, then it comes back again. Pump is clean, outlet hose is clear.
Any ideas pls?

It’s funny .. I fiddled with holding the door shut this am, it worked, then it stopped again .. I looked thru some prev. posts and someone suggested pressing some buttons to reset/diagnostics (which after Penguin warned against, I saw that after ..!). Anyway, after numerous LED’s flashing, it worked again for a full wash and various test spins. BUT, now it’s doing it again!
I’ve also checked the pipes to the pressure vessels – all clear.
Any ideas PLEASE!
Ta, Peter

Just read this post and my AEG washing machine (72630W) is doing the same.
It happens intermittently, you start a wash program and the water goes in then it will just sit there with the start/Pause button flashing and the time display will revert back to the full program time.
Any ideas ?

if you cannot obtain diagnostics for these machines, you will save yourself money in the long run if you get an engineer with access to them to complete the repair. this doesnt have to be an aeg/elux/zanussi service force engineer,

Are diagnostics not generally available ?

not unless you are in the trade, im afraid. thing is if you do follow the diagnostics, its a hit and miss affair, and you can end up shelling out big money on pcbs (because thats what it can often tell you), when that isnt what is required. the diagnostics are only a guide and when used with sensible experience of said machines, can usually sort the fault within a reasonable price, the thing with diy fixes is that it can turn out to be pretty hefty, this is partially due to the average price of elux spares being relatively high… so changing say 2x lowest cost components can equate to an independant engineers total labour rate, and then theres still no guarantee youve sorted it. also aeg/elux/zanussi etc dont tend to completely follow standard manual test routines.
its like new cars, its not just a case of cleaning up the plugs or skimming the head gasket… etc like it used to be with the older cars
so much like new washers, full electronic controls throw up an added dimension of this’s and that’s which is where the diagnostics come in handy in order to pinpoint the failure

Do you think it could be any of the usual suspects, heater, brushes, door interlock etc ?

you tell us, your guess is as good as ours, without looking at the machine its very hard to say as thats a symptom of a multitude of potential faults…
the other thing to remember is those w/d main boards are a sod to refit if you attempt to take them out…
