ParticipantFab machine, but has just started letting me down.
Completes full wash cycle, but on pulling out the dispensing drawer, the fabric softener section is still full. The odd occasion, the softener has emptied.
I have washed out the drawer, ensuring that all is clear. I have put my hand into the drawer space of the machine and cleaned that area, attempting to ensure that the holes at the top are clear, using a washing up brush. Horrible black gunge zone.
Is there an easy way to clean this area to ensure that it isn’t just a ‘gunge blockage’??? For example, is it easy to unscrew top panel and access this area.?? Or am i barking up the wrong tree? ❓ 🙁
Many thanks in advance from a desperate housewife 😀 who is grateful for posters like here.

You will probably need to clean the top of the drawer cavity-usually there will
be some holes which dispense water.Dont know the specific design of this machine but this problem is universal.
Either water not getting into the chamber or the syphoning of the conditioner being restricted on its way out.Diluting the conditioner and reducing its viscosity can help say 1:1
Pipe cleaners are ideal for unblocking the holes in the roof of these things!
The AEG may also have a seperate valve to control the water inlet for the conditioner and from memory the design is comparatively complex.
If cleaning doesnt work it may be expensive to fix.

Will have another attempt at cleaning the holes out.
Yes , i tried the diluted method and it is those times it worked, but not today.
Many thanks.November 15, 2010 at 8:47 pm #335811Seamy

Try pulling out drawer slightly, fill with fabric conditioner as normal to below MaX level, then top up with water from kettle or jug to above the MaX level, conditioner should now all go through, if it doesn’t theres a blockage in the syphons or drawer, or that its not sitting in correctly.

hi seamy,
That is what i do if i have had that problem in the past! Thought i was doing something wrong, so glad when i just read your post 🙂
Although i no longer use softener as i was told by a local engineer that it was one of the worst things to use in a washing machine as it can clog up the works 🙁
I am no longer using liquid either since reading up on here about them, a very interesting bit of information that i pass on to everyone i know who uses liquids! :lesson: I think it is in the section about keeping your washing machine free from that black gunk!
