ParticipantHi All
Im hoping someone will be able to help me.
Recently my AEG 87695WD Protex plus washer dryer is not working on the drying cycle , clothes come hot and steaming and i mean steaming hot with lots of hot steam coming out when i open the door (front of machine is hot to the point i worry about safety)
Having done some research i think its either the water inlet or blocked condenser although maybe im wrong ?
I ran the service mode and no errors are stored it says E00
I tested the water inlet with machine off and it was open circuit which i assume is ok.
For the life of me i cannot see any pipes that connect to a plastic condenser or such compartment i have no clue how to get to it and clean it.
I used this service manual but its in german so im a little confused. https://elektrotanya.com/aeg_l87695wd_ewm10931_ewd10931_series_7_8_9_rev0_german_sm.pdf/download.html
Attached are some photos of the machine taken apart:

Moderatorat a guess i would say blocked condenser.
as far as i know these machines test the water inlet before the dryer startswhen you start the dryer does the machine sort of sit there for a while, then pump, then start the tumble dryer fan?
if yes its testing for water and it has to be the condenserDave

ParticipantHi Dave
thanks so much for that , if it is a blocked condenser where is it and how do I clean it out , as all the stufff Iv seen online shows a white plastic see through container but I see nothing of the sort on mine.
is there a truck to clean it without removal like push a hose in and wash it through it or pour warm water down it ?
The only black hose I see if from soap draw to the tub.
Again any further assistance would be very much appreciated.
Perhaps a picture of where this blasted condenser is and how to get it off ?

Moderatorcondensor is part of the drum
you need to remove the fan unit to gain access then i use a length of steel wire with a hook on the end ( old wire coat hanger) to hook the fluff out
could also be blocked fan bladesDave

ParticipantOk Dave will try taking fan assembley off
So if I remove the fan unit I assume it’s the big hole that the fan goes on top of and seals against that I need to stick the wire in to fish this fluff out ?

ParticipantCheers Dave gonna give it a go did try removing fan but it was tight didn’t budge I guess it’s heat welded and I didn’t want remove the brace , I’m gonna try loosen everything enough to see if I can lift fan enough to gain access as strut has springs under tension which for me is an injury waiting to happen. Any tips on removing fan without damaging rubber seals etc ?
If not don’t worry you’ve helped enough
hopefully I fix it and I’ll owe you a beer or 2

Moderatorwould need to know the Pnc number as there are 26 machines with a similar model number
but the one i looked up shows the front of the machine has to come off so it can be iwthdrawn forwards
another one shows the top bar has to be raised
does not look too easy mad design

ParticipantHey Dave
sure PNC number is 91460570201
is that the number you was after ?
type is FLI0661B4
if you could let me know how to get fan assembley off to access condenser I’d be a happy camper.

Moderatorin the manual you found starting at page 120 ish
dont like the idea of removing the top brace but you may be able to lift one side and leave the other side with the scews loose but still secure. then place the left side on some wood to lift it
there may be enough room to remove it without
not done one so cant be preciseDave

ParticipantHey dave just to let you know going to attempt this repair today
Am i right in thiking if its a faulty 3 way valve that on the dry function no water will be heard or seen going in in to machine from detergent draw to cool washing down and condense ?
im going to check green solenoid both with power on and off and see what readings i get but based on our discussion im sure it has to be blocked condenser.
Will keep you posted
iv repaired a few machines with things like elements / door locks so you may see me post a few questions on here as i usally dont throw the old faulty machines away but replace with good used ones to buy me time to work on the faulty one wifee says im a hoarder i say im a enviromentalist and cant send machines to dump for small issues. Thanks again for all your help , fingers crossed this one is fixed later.

ParticipantHi Dave
Ok so got the fan to one side and theres only 2 holes
1 is air duct to push air in to drum the other is where the fan seals against but this isnt a gaping hole only the sides have a slit in them for air to travel through, how the bloody hell am i supposed to get in to the condenser chamber from there ?
2 hours and im no closer , are we sure this model has a condenser that needs cleaning ? As manual i have says its cleaned during last rinse cycle ?
attached are pictures , would again appreciate some more guidance.

ParticipantJust out of interest spoke to a local shop and they said this model shouldn’t get a blocked condenser as it rinses and its most likely the pump that does the dryer side that faulty or blocked
i can see a recirculation pump is that what he means ?
August 17, 2020 at 3:03 pm #471230electrofix
Moderatorno recirc pump is not used in the drying process
have you looked at the fan to make sure thats not clogged ?
