Having long term hassles with expensive machine 5.75 years old.
Drain pump replaced 4.5 years ago now sounds bad, worse after taking it out and cleaning it so plan to replace again

BUT also washing comes out hot (after rinsing) sometimes on cottons/linens and machine fills again on same prog after final spin. OK on delicates and easy cares stopped before rinse cycle.

Thanks very much for your help

If you could post the PNC (product code) from the rating plate inside the door please. I can chack for further details for you.

It sounds like a blockage though to be honest.

Power off please when checking :zap:

    hi No is 91400209800
I really appreciate your help. I phoned a local repairer and he said sounds like (£165) control panel which has gone before (under guarantee that time)
the drain pump sounds dreadful and was set to replace (you dont have the part otherwise would have ordered through you guys) but even though I am not expert why should pump effect refilling after spinning and stopping before rinsing as it did after i cleared fault code. Also heating rinsing water sounds well dodgy.

    Thanks very much

Heres copy of e mail I sent to AEG I bought AEG because of low water and electricity consumption and 1800 spin speed. I bought the above trusting it would be a reliable performer that would last for years. – great in theory wrong in practice!
5.75 years of modest use approx 4 times a week. It almost straight away needed repair
New plastic dispenser at top of machine took two repairs and much grief
Drain pump motor replaced. Another time cleaned out by myself
    Carbon brushes replaced
    Control Panel replaced
Door plug came out twice once had to call engineer second time I repaired.
Is this unusual for one of your machines.

Very disappointing. Now I have C7 error. Prior to error code it has been refilling at end of final spin on cottons/linen and heating rinse water. Other times not completing programme – just stopping prior to possibly during rinse cycle.

Re: AEG 88730 update C7 fault code

C7 is actually related to the heater and/or heat control, I doubt the PCB has failed in that case.

Let us know what your local guy finds 🙂

He said (over the phone) that the CP had most likely gone and said junk it. I’ll try adn get someone to have a look at it.
Why would machine start filling after rinse cycles?
    Thanks

Pressure system blockages/pressure switch faulty can cause this as well as not draining correctly.

So is it worth mending machine that also needs a new drain pump…..
5.75 years old but it did cost £600 and was made in Germany

    Thanks again for your help

    Hi,

Like you, I purchased the (then) top of the range AEG washing machine in 1998; thinking it was a ‘quality’ brand.

Unfortunately, three years later the drum bearings packed up.

I’ve been told that ever since Electrolux took over AEG, quality is not as it used to be… more’s the pity!

I’ve also been told similarly, that Zanussi quality has also fallen (also Electrolux owned).

Re: AEG 88730 update C7 fault code

Local engineer said motor had a ticking noise the PCB was the prob and he didn’t want to touch it.
Cut your losses and buy a new machine offered me a BOSCH basic WAA28160 but its only 5kg adn probably a Spanish model
I am loathed to chuck teh machine it has a hefty metal door seals still good….
    Any suggestions

Re: AEG 88730 update C7 fault code

You have an intermediate machine – AEG is owned by the Electrolux group. Yours is made in Germany and has a Zanussi drum, motor and electronic control system built into an AEG style cabinet and facia. Great, eh? Bought it for the name – reputation, etc? Sorry, like so many brands in this field, you didn’t get what you thought you were buying. Mind you, could have been worse, you could have bought an Indesit group machine.

So, let’s have a look at what’s been said so far. Ticking noises – that’s usually a raised segment on the commutator, so new motor required. Everything else points to a problem with the water level control system. Sludge in the system, level switch malfunction, partial blockages can cause the machine to think it’s full when it isn’t – exit heater in short order, enter weird things like extra rinses, draining after programme end and C7.

Give it up, find an extra £50 and get a Miele – it’s what it says it is on the tin and it’s designed to last 20 years. You certainly won’t need our help for a while!

    Regards,

    Thanks Penguin I shall

Thats what the engineer said – raised segment……..
Do you recommend any particular Miele? I dont need fancy I want a nice clean wash and a good spin dont use a tumble dryer.

    Thanks again
