AEG A75100GA4 freezer not cooling

Hi all

I’ve have an AEG A75100GA4 under counter freezer (about 8 yrs old I think) which isn’t cooling properly. Over the last 3-4 weeks the displayed temperature has risen from -20C to -5.

Today I emptied the freezer of food, cleared away the small amount of ice build-up from the inside, cleaned the dust away from the radiator and left it unplugged for a couple of hours.

Since plugging it back in, the indicated temperature has only gone from +7 down to +2 despite being on 2 hours (with no food inside).

I can hear the freezer running, door seal looks OK and fan is spinning. The compressor is pretty hot but the radiator is cool.

Any ideas?

Forgot to mention: this is a ‘frost free’ model

well you could try leaving the door open for 24 hours to make sure its fully defrosted if it does not freeze down then it sounds like it dead and you need a new one

Thanks, Dave. I gave it a 24-hour defrost and quite a bit of water came out; plugged it back in and it’s cooled down to -20C and held the temperature there for 24 hours so looking promising…
