AEG A81000TNW0 Under Counter Freezer failing to maintain temperature

Hi,

I have had a AEG A81000TNW0 under counter (frostless) freezer for 6 years. Has always worked flawlessly.

Today the temperature alarm has gone off. According to the freezer thermometer temperature is about -10C, which is 8 C above where it should be. I put in some unfrozen but cool food in this afternoon, but no more than usual. Since the alarm went off 3 hours ago I have checked the temperature again, which has remained stable at about -10C. The condenser is purring away. I have put the freeze boost on to help it get colder.

I am going to give it until tomorrow morning before calling someone in. Hopefully the temperature will have lowered significantly.

Would appreciate any thoughts on what might be the issue and if there any things which a totally non-technical person such as myself could do to diagnose or mitigate the issue.

I have already contacted AEG/Electrolux “customer support” which said that it would take up to 2 weeks to get someone out, by which time the freezer could be kaput. But I do not want to initiate a call out until I am sure there really is an issue.

And advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

FYI: I always keep the freezer pretty full as I bulk cook food, divide into portions which I freeze and then microwave to eat.
