ParticipantHi,
We have one of these freezers, side by side with the matching fridge. It’s 4 years old. About a week ago, the freezer started to sound a quiet alarm, and the temp display showed a small square in the bottom left hand corner. Turning the freezer off then on again and cancelling the alarm temporarily fixed the problem.
It then started to do this at least once a day, often more. We had a smilar problem a year ago with the fridge. and changing the sensors fixed it.
We’ve had the AEG recommended engineer out today, he swapped the sensor in the freezer. This evening, it happened again.
The manual is useless, and I’m not sure what we could try next. My husband is very handy and would be able to change anyhing that needs changing – we just don’t know what to try next.
Any ideas please/

Hi.
Which sensor was replaced as there are 2. One is an air temperature sensor, the other is the evaporator sensor.
Any idea?

Hi, thanks for your help.
The service engineer expected there to be two, but when he opened the freezer up he said there was only one and he replaced that.
I’ve still got the bag the new part came in, it says “probe, air”, and the part number is 208 56 11-09/9.
EDITED TO ADD: I’ve just found the explosion diagram on the AEG website, and it appears the engineer was mistaken; I can see from the shape of the part he’s removed that there are two of them, an air one and an evaporator one.
I presume the next step is to buy an evaporator sensor and replace that?
Thanks again

I would also have to come to that conclusion.
Good luck.

Thanks for that.
DH is opening up freezer now to have a look, and then we’ll order a new sensor tomorrow.
I’ll come back and confirm it’s fixed it (or to ask for more help) as soon as we’ve fitted the new one.
