ParticipantHi, it’s now 2.35AM and I’m still looking for help I have again trawled this site looking for information but cannot find the same set of circumstances we are experiencing so thought if I tried editing it once more someone may take pity on me (c’mon penguin, I’m from Yorkshire too). The clock works fine & the oven power indicator light comes on as soon as you switch the light on & fan starts when selected. I cannot find mention anywhere about the clock which when you try to select the oven temperature buzzes & returns to a flashing display of 12.00 pretty much like an electric alarm clock after a power cut. I have also set the timer, selected oven temperature but then although the light comes on ok when you get to the fan you get the same buzz & flashing 12.00. The most regular problem seems to suggest that the oven not heating up is due to a faulty fan thermostat but could someone please tell me if this would still indicate that this is the case or if it could be something more sinister as am desperate to get it sorted.
Other info: Single electric oven: 17190009
Product No.: 944 185 402
TYPE:91 AHB 01 GD
Many thanks in anticipation
Jax
ps: Hubby would be doing the work, I’m just the info gatherer!!October 21, 2007 at 5:23 pm #230874Penguin45

Further to your PM, I confess that I am totally confused as to what the actual problem with this oven is.
I presume you have no heat in the oven? The usual culprit is the fan oven element:
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ge&pid=103The timer has to be either set to manual, or fully programmed (start and finish time) for the oven to function.
The flash from the thermostat mentioned in your PM may just be the contact points opening and closing – it does not nesseccarily mean that the oven thermostat has failed.
The only way to be sure is for hubby to chase the circuit round with a test meter – with the power off – and see what is happening. Anything else is guesswork, I’m afraid.

Many thanks for reply. I wonder if I have over done it by trying & failing to describe the problem clearly? 😳
Just to clarify; neither the oven or grill are heating up (I had not previously tried the grill)
1) Oven on manual setting & clock set at correct time
2) Oven function control knob to desired function ie. a)light – ok
b)ventitherm fan operated cooking (ring element, fan)
c)fan controlled defrost
d)full width dual grill (grill, top heat)
Oven power indicator light comes on
3) As soon as temperature selector is turned (when function control selector is set on b or d above) the clock loses the set time and display flashes ‘12.00’ which stops anything working.
Could you please tell me if this makes a difference & helps to diagnose the problem?
Kind regards

Right – the clock/timer unit is dropping out under load is what you’re saying. The unit will almost certainly be faulty.
Due to the expense of the component, this is the point at which you get a pro in to investigate properly. There are other possible causes and they all need to be thoroughly checked before lashing out over £100 on a timer unit.
