    Hi
I have just been to an AEG 944171162 which is cutting out during cooking, it does not appear to be overheating and it is very intermitant when it cuts out. It could be on ten minutes or an hour, when it does cut out it can be re set straight away, which is why I don`t suspect a cut out stat.

Power is interupted somewhere, there is a power module and selector board each for top and bottom oven, oven/timer switches off but power is there as soon as it goes, making tracing power fault difficult. I thought I might be able to down load a service manual from distri cd but it is not very hepful. Can anybody help? has anybody had this problem before?

    Hi Oscar

Is the cooling fan OK? they can become a bit “sluggish”

thanks for the input, I`m pretty sure that the cooling fan is ok but will double check Monday. Wouldn`t that cause the TOC to cut power though? the fault is almost as if someone has switched the oven off then back on agian. The customer has to stand by and simply re sets the time and switches the oven on again to continue cooking!!

Is the PCB intelligent enough to abort the cooking for a conponent failure? is there a service mode? fault codes?

    Dodgy mains supply/connector possibly?

Sometimes just a case of tracing the wiring from the mains terminal block and hope to find a loose or poor terminal somewhere , normally at a TOC.
Might even be a dodgy tag on the TOC itself , not actually tripping the device but just loosing continuity momentarily.

    Good luck

A bit late I know but just in case somebody else ends with the same problem. It ended up being an intermittant fault with the On/Off Switch, which comes complete with the stainless steele Facia, very pricey!!

    Thanks for the help

hi i have also been to an AEG D8100 which sounds like the same model you are describing. The oven cuts out at varying points and the customer justs resets all settings and off it goes again. i did notice that the cooling fan didnt cut in for a very long time when the main oven was running and i have put it down to the initiation stat that turns the fan on….do you think this will solve the problem or am i just stabbing in the dark????

It does sound like a simular fault, though it is cutting out because the cooling fan is not kicking in then surely the safety stat would be cutting the oven off. If your customer can re set straight away without having to wait while the oven cools down then I would check the on/off switch. The one I did was a bastard because the switch metered OK and I only found it by wiggling the tags with a pair of very long nose pliers………. not reccomended!

I did, just about! manage to get it going again for Christmas Madmac, wrong part came down once or twice, or is this just another Jersey cover up? 🙂

Normally a 4 wire blue cutout causes the problem goes to the selector switch and cooling fan

Any updates on this as I have a D1800 cuts out after a short time and you can restart straight away. Cooling fan seems to be coming in OK.

The Problem I had turned out to be the on/off switch, which was part of the facia and at around £100 you need to be sure it is. I found it after wiggling wires to switch when it was on….. There are obviously plenty of other possible causes. Good luck!
