AEG C3 error code

Hi,
I am a newbie to this site and have little experience with washing machines. My mums AEG 86720 has stopped working, the error code C3 comes up and the prewash, mainwash and 1600 lights flash when the machine is turned on. After some googling, I concluded that the water sensor at the base of the machine may have found a leak. The machine has not been working for over a week and I have already drained water and cleaned the circulating pump. I then opened the back of the machine but everything looks ok, the dirt is evenly distributed without any signs of old water drops. There is a red plastic box fixed on to the base of the machine with 2 sets of wires plugged into it but it looks ok, I cannot see any switch or anything to that effect.

I am stuck and my mum has been persuaded to buy a very expensive Miele.

poss wiring fault

but could also be pcb fault
