AEG Competence D-8800-4-A not heating

First post from longtime visitor…

I have an AEG Competence D8800-4-A electric double oven (product no 944171393). The bottom oven does not heat at all although the fan and light are working. The top oven/grill is fine.

I’ve previously had the top element replaced (about 12 months ago) but now neither the top nor bottom of the oven will heat up. I’ve tried various modes and have searched on this forum – my thinking is that the thermostat is gone. Can anyone confirm or suggest an alternative issue that might be causing the problem?

If it is the thermostat, is this straightforward to replace? I am competent with wiring and electrics generally, although not so much with soldering (lack of practice!).

Any tips or advice gratefully received!

Check the small thermal cut out fixed to the side of the oven. If it’s open circuit then that’s faulty.
