ParticipantHi, my AEG displays the following codes when i switch it on: 068 followed by 19 1.
This started after the bottom oven failed. Part way through cooking a meal the bottom oven switched off completely, all lights and fans stopped. I switched off all power to the oven and repowered after a minute or so, the oven failed to restart for approx 5 minutes, just displaying the 2 oven indicators! The diplay recovered, the oven appeared to then reach temperature but then seemed to get even hotter and overcooked the food, I switched off the oven, the fan switched off but the bottom fan element stayed on glowing red, hence i powered the whole oven off.
When I turn the oven on it now displays the sequence of codes above on the display, if i reset the clock I can continue to use the top oven and grill but not the botom oven as i dont trust it. Can. Anyone suggest what may have failed?
Thanks for taking the time to read and reply.

i had a look and, for that model, there is no explanation in the technical docs of any fault code at all! 🙁

Hi
The fault you’ve described is of the fan toc failure which turns the fan on to cool the cabinet down.when this fails it overheats and switches off until it cools again.
It may be better to have a engineer visit to make sure though.

Thanks for your help, I will give that a try. I assume this is accessed via the top panel of the oven behind the controls.

I was able to get one of the replacement sensors from a local stockist, have just stripped the oven down but it doesnt have that part anywhere so i guess it must be something elso. I noticed on the top of the fan duct there are what look like 3 sensors, i’m guessing it may be one of those that has failed, but how do i know which one if it is that? hoping someone may be able to help.

On the bottom oven there’s a cut out fitted in at the lamp assembly it’s this one:
There is no image available I’m afraid. It could be that but, it’s purely a guess and there’s no guarantee that it would be.
When a thermal cut out or fuse goes, there’s usually a reason for that. As in, something has allowed the oven to get too hot, the fuse is just doing what it should do, cutting the oven out as it’s getting up to the point where it could be dangerous.
That could be the failure of a cooling fan, a thermostat, sensor or a even a control board that has failed. That AEG oven has all of the above.
It is possible that it’s the cut out itself but there’s plenty other things could be at the root of the problem.
So, without narrowing it down a little it really is very hard to say and nigh on impossible to diagnose remotely with the information available and lack of technical info.

I’ve just spotted this thread and from the OP’s description of the sequence of events I reckon the PTC has failed and, worse still, probably the main power module with it?
