ParticipantHi – can anyone help – I’ve just moved into a house with an AEG competence built in oven that seems to work when it wants – well by this I should say it turns itself off when it wants. Have gone through the usuals of switching it off at mains – resetting clock – making sure timers aren’t interferring – but it persists in sulking – I get about 25mins at 200*C then it turns off…….if I leave it for 10mins or so with door open to cool a bit then turn it back on again I can get an extra 10 mins out of it before it turns off again……..could it be a thermostat problem ???? Bearing in mind I’m blonde with very little brain as far as AEG ovens are concerned!!!! 😕
Right – have now had a browse in the rest of the forum since my above outburst and it appears others have had the same problem (hey I said I was blonde so give me a break for not looking first!). So am gathering it could be the cooling fan – will check tonight when I use it for my restricted 25mins! Will come back tomorrow with PNC model no. etc in case anyone out there in the ether has some advice about parts etc…………TTFN

It sounds like the usual cooling fan control problem, if you go to the search here:
and search for “8996619267611” (without the quotes), there’s loads of info on this fault.
8996619267611 is the part number of the part that is usually the cause of it, you can find that here:
Power off please if checking yourself or check the repairs@ link below for an engineer 🙂

Thanks for that – checked it out last night and can’t feel anything coming out of the oven when it’s on so maybe cooling fan – the model number is B1180-1 Serial no. 34604563 PNC 944 181 727 – this type of oven has grill in same space and the same thing happens when I use the grill but I only get about 10-15mins out of the grill – should the cooling fan work with the grill as well?
