Looking at an AEG condenser today which occasionally reverts back to 51 mins and start light flashes when it reaches 35 mins on display. Of course, unlikely to do it with engineer present… anyone help on activating a test mode for these? Thanks, Simon.
    Mod is 57700W. PNC. 916014098. Ser. 12668558

To begin the test programme push and hold the buttons ’door’ and ‘start / pause’ simultaneously.
At the same time turn the selector switch from ‘off ‘ to ‘light’. The timer display
    will how show ‘do’.
To begin each separate function test, push ‘start / pause’.
Code Selector Switch Position Diagnostic Function

    do Light

    heating. Drum rotates left
    d2 Cottons
    Cupboard Dry

d6 Easy Care Extra Dry Both heater relays are energised giving maximum
heating. Drum rotates left. With the drum empty,
machine switches off after 30 seconds and ‘END’
LED is illuminated. If short circuit exists between
drum and rib (paddle) machine will run
    continuously.
d7 Easy Care To delete customer option setting push ‘Signal
button’. Machine returned to factory setting.
da 40 minutes All LEDs are illuminated. Pushing the signal button
will switch the buzzer On or Off.
Db 20 minutes Make good electrical connection between drum and
paddle. Push start/pause, S7 shows on display. Push
delay time to begin test. Display counts down to S0
(approx 30 seconds intervals). When test stops, if
end is illuminated the electronic sensing is correct.
If S1 or S2 shows on display, the electronic sensing
    is faulty.

Sorry if that looks a bit messy, copied and pasted from the diagnostic manual
