Both top and main ovens keep cutting out and the control buttons sometimes do not work.

The engineer just looked at it without any detailed inspection and said that it was a faulty on/off switch, which could not in itself be replaced, a control panel was needed.

He said that control panels are no longer available, but they could supply a new oven!

Sorry to be cynical, but gas engineers were notorious for trying to sell new boilers when parts were in fact available.

If it is irreparable it’s very disappointing for a top of the range and expensive oven bought in 2001.

    Help please.

I had an issue with the lower oven switching off. Traced to the on off switch. It is just dirty contacts – I fixed it with Maplin Contact Cleaner spray – only needed to remove the top inspection panel and did not have to remove the on off switch itself. Total cost to fix about 2.50!

Cleaner now £3.25. Squirted all openings and operated switch several times.

Main oven cut just after the warm up beeps. Clock and top oven stayed on.

Tried main oven again, it’s stayed on for 45mins so far. Will switch off now and try cleaner again when cool.
