ParticipantFrom UK White Goods I have ordered a new AG1802 – AEG Washing Machine Door Seal Gasket for a Lavamat 50500 as there is a bit missing from the lip of my seal so it’s leaking.
How do I fit it? Will it come with instructions? Does not seem any obvious way to remove the old one as it seems very solidly attached to the metal front panel. Are they “glued” on with silicone mastic? Can I do it from the front without removing the top, back or drum?

Hi Hope you like a challenge? The seal has a front retaining spring or plastic clip. either of these you use a small flatblade screwdriver to remove ( be a little gentlr not to scratch paint) the seal is then lipped onto the front of the cabinet. Remove all of the way round. Then big muscles required, push hard with both hands at the bottom of the seal where it meets the drum & ease away. Make sure you notice the spring metal band that also will come adrift. Put you new seal in some very hot water to make supple. Get some fairy liquid & spread around the lip of the drum. Then start to ease the new one over the drum lip. once this is in place throughout its whole circumference, you then need to cover the back of your hands with fairy liquid. You then have to stretch the spring band over the seal & onto the drum lip. ( liquid is to lubricate your hands or you’ll end up with no skin left) THESE ARE TIGHT & AWKWARD EVEN FOR PROFESSIONALS! Good luck

Many thanks, I did not find it that difficult, although replacing the outer band took 4 hands. I did take the top and front off to ease access.
But after all that I got the programming errors mentioned in another recent post here. Not sure if they were caused by the repair work or were there already and I made them worse.
