ParticipantHello, I’ve got a brand new AEG double oven, model D4101-4-A. Connected unit to mains and clock lit up on display, switched on top and bottom oven and one minute later the MCB tripped, I checked wiring going to oven and all OK, so reset MCB and did not trip again. With both ovens on again, shortly after the cooling fan for the control panel came on and light blue smoke (pretty sure it was light blue) came out from the air vent between the top oven and control panel, after a couple of minutes the smoke stopped but the cooling fan is now making a constant noise.
The oven is out of warranty because I’ve been fitting a new kitchen and the oven has been sitting in my hall way all this time. I spoke to AEG and they confirmed their is a charge to fix it.
Sounds like a cooling fan is needed for the control panel, but would be very grateful if anyone could give me advice also if they think any other damage is done to the oven. Thank you very much for any help.

Hi
Are you sure the smoke was coming from control panel .On first use elements will smoke ,because they are coated to stop them rusting when new and all new elements will smoke the first time. and cooling fan can pull smoke from vents in the oven.

Hi Mike
Thank you very much for getting back to me.
When I first switched on the top and bottom oven their was a bit of smoke inside both ovens which like you say was probably the elements smoking from the coating, but the type of smoke I was describing was coming out from the air vent between the top oven and control panel, the smell it gave was an electrical burning smell.
Hope to hear from you soon when you have a moment.
Thanks again Mike

ParticipantNoisy fan cooled ovens
We’ve just had a Stoves fan cooled double built in gas oven installed and the noise level is too intrusive – it sounds like a microwave oven running constantly.
The control panel is faulty so the oven is going back under warranty and we are now researching an alternative less noisy oven.
Does anyone have recommendations for a fairly quiet built in fan cooled gas oven? The Hotpoint DY230G has a noise spec of 50dB – our Bosch Classixx dishwasher has a spec of 52dB and we would not want that running for several hours whilst having a chat in the kitchen.
One thing that’s different about the Hotpoint compared to the Stoves is that it specifies leaving air vents at the base and top of the cabinet, the Stoves only has air inlet and outlet at the front of the oven itself.

Brian,
It may have been better to start a new thread with your question, this one may get overlooked, as it is tagged onto a completely different thread.
