ParticipantHi All
Got an AEG-Electrolux condenser Tumble Dryer and after switching it on last week and starting up it ceased operations. Now it’s DEAD. Their is no light on the front panel. I have checked that power is getting to the dryer. Before. Go dismantling the dryer any help on what I can check out for? Is their an internal fuse that may have blown? Would the thermostat have gone, and would cause no power to get into the dryer?
Your help is greatly appreciated

Do you have a Multimeter & know how to use it for testing ? The thermostat going wouldn’t cause your machine to be Completely dead.

Hi
I can get one from work tomorrow. Shouldn’t have much of a problem using it, nevertheless I can ask a collegue(electrician) to come with me. I did check with a tester for elec current and found current going up the cable into the appliance. Dismantled top and front panel but couldn’t see any type of fuse which may have gone.I look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi: No need to carry out any live testing, you should be able to localise the fault easily enough using resistance tests. Doubt that there’s a fuse inside to blow, the 1st thing I’d check would be the door safety switch. Have you got a model number for the machine ?

Thanks for the prompt reply. The model is Electrolux EDC67150W. What I seem to recall is even if the door was open the start/stop button would flash n green.

A tester wouldn’t find current going up a cable, you need an ammeter for that, a phase tester will only show that there is a live connection to the appliance, you need both a phase & neutral for the appliance to work.
Anyhows its likely the p.c.b is gone on it, post the model & or PNC (9digit) code of appliance so someone can help you with more specific details.April 30, 2013 at 4:27 pm #393802mccoy2876
