ParticipantHi
We have an AEG F60870M dishwasher which is leaving food debris and marks over some of the crockery, mainly in the top drawer, although the bottom is also affected. Appears to be slightly intermittent but seems to be getting worse. It looks like it is washing properly but then not getting rid of the food debris when rinsing. It then gets baked on when the washer goes into the drying cycle. Anyone have any idea as towhy this might be happening? Have looked at the spray arms and these appear clean and clear of blockages. Many thanks.

It sounds like an upper spray arm problem to be honest.
Set the arm to a certain angle then start the dishwasher up, let it start to wash then switch off and open the door to see if it’s moved. It may be that the arm and/or support are worn and it isn’t rotating.

Thanks for your advice. The machine is only 5 months old and hopefully shouldn’t be worn and before I go to the hassle of getting someone to look at it under warranty (assuming they find a problem) I thought I would ask for advice. I will check for arm rotation this evening and see how we go. Many thanks for your input.

More likely to be either a filter (visible under the bottom basket) not fitted correctly and therefore bobbing up and down when washing or possibly the detergent chosen.
I would try using a good quality standard detergent rather than one of these new combined 3in1 or 4in1 types, especially if using a seperate rinse-aid too.
Check the filters first, if the holes in the rotating spray arms are blocked it is a sign that the filters were not in place. If this is the case it may take a couple of washes to clean itself out again.

Thanks for your response, which is helpful. I have checked the filters and all were in place but did also check the arm rotation as suggested by DAve and it wasn’t turning as it should. I think there is an issue with it not connecting properly to the back of the machine where the water feed is, the seal does not appear to be particularly tight but with a good shove it seemed to connect enough to start moving the arm. I will see how we get on with this but your comments on the 3in1 powders are interesting. Is your view that they are not as effective as general powder and rinse aid> Cheers. Carl
