ParticipantThis machine is about a year old. We do not fill up the internal salt softener as we have an external water softener (Kinetico etc). We do not use rinse aid either as the contents always seem ok to us – not squeaky, not greasy.
We tend to use one program only – ‘Normal’.
We notice, more often than not, that when we unload the dishwasher the contents are not dry, I believe this model has a drying cycle, but something is not right. The cutlery and plates often have drips of water on them and we have to wipe them dry before putting them back in the kitchen drawers etc.
We did a wash when we went to bed late last night. This morning, after unloading the machine, we looked inside and noted the back wall of the machine was almost completely covered in condensation. Surely the inside should be dry? On other machines we have owned over the years when you opened the door after a wash cycle you could almost feel ‘hot moist air’ coming out of the door as you opened it. The machine never feels like that.
Perhaps I should do a wash during the day and open the door immediately after the complete cycle has finished and see whether the inside of the machine is hot or not?
As ever, I’d be grateful for some suggestions from ‘the team’. Regards, yt.

if the tablets you are using are not all in one tablet they do not contain rinse aid
rinse aid helps the water drip off the dishes and aids drying
if the tablets you use do contain rinse aid do not double dose by using liquid as well but make sure the programme you use is long enough so the tablet dissolve at the correct time

Thanks for your reply. We do use the all in one tablets and the program we normally use takes 70 minutes or so to complete.
Set it off today and was able to confirm that it did have hot water inside it whilst washing, and there was warm/moist/slightly steamy air inside the machine at the end of the washing cycle. Quickly closed the door again and had another look an hour later. Still seemed to have some items with water on them when I removed them.
So, I don’t know what to think. Our three neighbours have the same machine installed by the developer and when I mentioned it to them yesterday they both said their machines did the same sort of thing and it was not unusual to have to wipe water off items after completion of the washing cycle.
Perhaps our machines are simply cheap and cheerful and not up to much?

from the manual for engineers to helps with drying problems
1 Plastic items (bowls, chopping boards, pan handles),
wooden chopping boards and utensils, for the reasons
outlined above, do not have a sufficient mass to accumulate energy in the form of heat and have low heat
conductivity. It is therefore normal for drops of water
to remain on such items at the end of the drying cycle.2 Teflon pans, for the very nature of the material they
are made of, retain more water and the teflon coating
acts as a sort of barrier (low heat conductivity) compar
ed to china or steel. It is therefore normal for drops of
water to remain on such items at the end of the drying cycle.3 Check whether the selected cycle includes a final dryi
ng phase (the 30min and 1h cycles, for instance, do not
include drying). Should the wash cycle not include
a drying phase, suggest that the customers keep the
appliance door ajar at the end of the cycle.4 Check whether the “ENERGY SAVI
NG” option key was selected
If this function has been selected, in order to achieve
energy savings, the temperatur
e of the final rinse drops
from 69°C to 45°C, with a clear effect on the final dr
ying phase. If this option has been selected, it remains
enabled in subsequent wash cycles as well, until the user
disables it. The instruction manual recommends you
keep the appliance door ajar at the end
of the cycle to get drier dishes.hope it helps

Many thanks for your reply, that info is very helpful.
The info supplied by you would make the basis of a useful ‘sticky’ thread I think. Thanks again, regards yt.
