ParticipantMy dishwasher detergent dispenser door catch mechanism is permanently unlatched. It will not lock the door closed. Can this be repaired or will it require a whole new dispenser unit. If so how is it removed and where can I obtain one ?

Unless the release mechanism has simply stiffened up with age, there is little to be done with dispensers. In thoery the actuating rod can be stripped out of the dispenser and cleaned, but it’s a lot of faffing about for no guaranteed reward. Replacement is the proper solution.
In either case, access involves splitting the inner and outer door apart (with the power off). Be advised that you can shave with the edges of the inner door………
Replacement dispenser is p/no 1115750-20/8 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to get you one promptly if you decide to replace.

Thanks for the info Penguin 45. I’ll try removing and stripping it but will get price for replacement just in case. Would you recommend a new gasket/seal?

Just received replacement dispenser from supplier – it’s different to the original. They no longer supply part no 111 57 50-20/8 they supplied replacement part no 407 13 58-13/1. This one has edge connection for a reed switch on the rinse dispenser? My original dispenser has a mechanical connection to the solenoid release which dispenses the rinse aid. There is no electrical connection to the rinse aid side. Is this new part the correct replacement and if I fit it how does the rinse aid dispense?

The reed switch is only used for switching a fluid low lamp. If you are replacing a single solenoid unit, it should go straight in.
Double checking, the dispenser has been superceded no less than 7 times!
