ParticipantI have a 20yr old dishwasher, AEG FAVORIT 50750 VI, PNC 911 234 546 02, Serial no. 227 848 12. Having bought a little used holiday home to retire to, this machine ran a ‘Normal 65 deg C’ wash once fine. Then over this Christmas w/e, the detergent dispenser flicks open as soon as the power button is switched on, and the tab washes in the ‘Pre Wash’ cycle. I have got round the immediate problem by dunking all the dirties to rinse them, then running a ‘Quick 50 deg C’ program, which has neither a pre wash, nor drying cycle (though everything is clean & hot when finished and drained). When ever the power is activated, I can see the detergent dispenser catch being activated. In this part of Cornwall it needs no salt.
Any ideas as to the cause?December 28, 2022 at 8:51 pm #485029electrofix
Moderatorsounds like the Triac on the board that cotrols the dispenser is probably faulty

Dave,
Thanks for your swift reply & I apologise for my delayed response.
Is the Triac a generic available spare, or would a new board still be available for this model and a better option?

Moderatorif you can solder and check electronic components sourcing a triac should be no problem and a lot cheaper than a board
your pnc number does not come up either can find 911 234 546 plus 00 and 01 but not 02
did find 911 234 548 02
which is more likely but parts are obsolete

ParticipantDave,
You are correct. I made an error, it is 911 234 548 02. If the board is obselete, then repair is the only option. I’ve never soldered on a board and may end up making the situation worse. So I’ll have to see if there is anyone who could do it locally or mail the board to someone who would do it.Happy New Year,

ParticipantDave,
You were very helpful as I investigated a problem with the above AEG Dishwasher Favorit 50750VI, PNC 911 234 548 02.
For domestic reasons, I have not been able to deal with it until last week, when I sent the PCB (RAFI 5.40 552.602-005, EE214/3), removed from the controls in the front door, to QER as above. Yesterday someone from QER phoned me to say (though they are not domestic appliance repairers), that there must be another board that they would need to check. I have removed the rest of the front panel and a rear panel where the mains cable enters and can not see a second PCB.
Would you be able to tell me the location of any second PCB which can be removed and checked?Andy

ParticipantThat is the one, with the program selections and on/off switch, which I have already sent to QER. Is there / should there be an additional one?
