C3 came up on the display & drain pump runs continously if plugged in.
Unfortunately machine is in a very confined space but managed to get the back off & found 1/4″ of water in the tray which had activated the anti flood float. Ran machine but couldnt see any sign of a leak so mopped up water & it ran ok for a week but C3 up again so obviously must have a leak. Really couldnt see very much from behind, does anyone Know if how the front comes off ? Presuming there must be a way for engineers to look at intergrated fittings from the front but if you remove the lower fascia panel you cant see anything. Would be very grateful for any advice on taking machine apart or common leak areas. Regards Bob

Leaks on these machines are commonly from the bottom corners of the door seal (trickles back via the hinges or lower covers) and the water inlet vent on the left hand side of the tub. Circulation pump can weep as well.

Removal of covers and observation is really the only way to tell.

Stay safe, power off before touching anything.

The lower front panel is accessable by removing the “door front” (undo about eight screws on the inside of the door) and then you can access the screws that hold on the silver facia panel.

Re: AEG favorit 80820 leaking in to tray

Thanks for the info , have now got the top, back, both sides & the lower front off. Replaced the door seal this week as it felt a bit soggy & was under a tenner. Still getting a leak but I’ll be buggered if I can see where from. With a much stripped off as you can & laying a safe distance away with my big torch, I have spent several unhappy hours on the hard kitchen floor squinting away at it from every angle with it running & it just wont leak from anywhere. But I know as soon as I rebuild it & refit all the kitchen units back in place it will do about 3 loads until C3 comes up & the tray will be soggy again . Not sure what to do next, would love to get an engineer round to have a go but cannot get any time at all off work for the forseeable future so it looks like a few more hours on the tiles may be in store for me !
    Regards Bob

If all else fails, change the regeneration doser in the side panel, usually gives you a year-18 months before it happens again.

My humble thanks to you Eastlmark I think you may have sussed it.Am guessing the regeneration doser is the large plastic tank on the side cotaining a maze of waterways ? On close inspection I could see about 2″ of sludge in the bottom of it , the height of which corresponded with a rear outlet which has an overflow pipe in to the bloody tray at the bottom !looks like the water couldnt get past the sludge so it went out the overflow instead ? Took the tank off & flushed it out under the shower, refitted it & have crossed my fingers for a result.
    Best regards Luckybob
