AEG FAVORIT 86050 VI Timing lights flashing

Our AEG FAVORIT 86050 VI won’t start. The only symptom is that the three delay start lights (3h, 6h and 12h) are flashing, from 3h to 6h to 12h and then back to 3h again. I have tried turning it on and off again, holding down the set delay start button for several seconds, and giving it a good kicking. (Joke). Any suggestions as to what I might do?

The machine is about two years old, and the numbers on the side of the door are:

PNC 911 234 726 01
S-No 22626305
