I have taken the side covers off my machine and it seems to be leaking from somewhere behind the large flat white plastic water reservoir on the left hand side of the machine.

Its only a minor leak , noticable when starting to drain water from the machine , not filling it.The water is draining out of the machine OK.

There is a build up of fat in the lower quarter section of this reservoir , but I have pulled larger of the two rubber hoses off of the bottom of this reservoir and it doesn’t seem to be blocked.

Can anyone help me with resolving this leak – what should be my next steps? If I need to remove the reservoir can you give some guidance on how to as I don’t want to be too ham fisted and break something.

    Many thanks.

I *think* there is a connecting hose between the drain pump and the actual outlet hose. Probably the place to start.

I’ve had another look and the issue is actually when its filling , not draining.

I’ve managed to get the side reservoir off and the only place it could be leaking is:

    1) The seal into the machine
    2) one of the 4 O rings where the reservoir push fits into the sump
    3) the reservoir its self.

I think 3 is OK. I have spent a couple of hours trying 1 and 2 and no definite results yet. I think the sump could do with cleaning , maybe is blocked and forcing water past one of the O rings- that will be my next job. I wont this this machine beat me !!

Re: AEG FAVORIT 86070 VI – Leak behind side reservoir

Finally managed to fix the leak for the grand cost of Zero.

I originally thought the leak was on the bottom join where the side reservoir splits in two (I assume for cleaning) as indicated by the black mould and where my finger is pointing in the attached picture. This was not the case. It was actually leaking from the flimsy plastic flap (that I didn’t even spot the first few times I took the reservoir off). I assume this is an access flap for cleaning , so I just stuck a bit of strong gaffer tape over it and problem solved (for now)

I must have taken at least 4 hours to resolve this – keep trying something and then having to run the machine on prewash to identify the leak.
I hope this helps others out who may get the same problem.

    Good man, Mr a1topdog.

Had exactly the same issue over many years with my AEG – repeated i30 service code errors, repeated tilting of machine to drain tray. Last weekend took all the panels off and found the leak was exactly in the place you describe – though as removing the flat plastic reservoir to get at this stupid flap (why is it there at all?) looked like a massive pain, I thought I’d see if I could achieve anything by taking the big pipe off the bottom, and poking at the horrible fatty/mouldy build-up of sludge with a long cable tie.

Did manage to clear a fair bit, then connected back up, stuck a cup of caustic soda in the machine and ran a couple of cycles (no dishes, obviously). Lots of cack dislodged by this, which meant a long session unblocking the spray-arm holes…

Then filled up with salt and rinse aid – previously have always relied on the 3-in-tablets and the relevant setting. I think this was probably crucial, as I’ve since read that salt doesn’t just help combat limescale by keeping water soft, but also has a general purgative effect that helps keep all the pipes and reservoirs gunk-free.

Anyway – it’s been fine since. Though if it does start leaking again, at least I know what to do (though I’m really not looking forward to the dismantling process).

Just had the same problem with our machine. Resolved it by doing a hot programme with a finish dishwasher cleaner in.
