Going out to this machine on Wednesday. Customer complains that she has difficulty setting and starting the machine. She keeps pressing different buttons but she needs several attempts to get the programme to stay on, the machine will just click right through to the end. She does eventually get it to work and it then completes the cycle OK.
This sounds exactly the same fault that I encountered on a German made Philips machine a couple of weeks ago. Are these machines related ?

Any thoughts on why it is behaving like it is. I have not seen it yet BTW.

Hi Jim
Fairly old model, push putton program selection, with a mechanical timer. Have had the timer sticking, if electricity supply is interupted, turning the timer shaft with a screwdriver resets it.cliff

Had a look at TDS, not to expensive, looks like the old AKO timer used on Hotpoint machines. Timer is not sticking though, it will not set a programme and just advances right through to end most of the time. Does sometimes work fine, ‘ apparently’ 😉

Went to this today, blue tubes blocked. Hopefully that will be the cause of intermittant timer advancing.
The customer gave me this little piece of plastic, appears to have had a small grey rubber seal at the far end. He found it in the bottom of the dishwasher. I have absolutely no idea what it is, anyone want to hazard a guess. 😕
Sorry if it is a bit over exposed. Its about 2 inches long and pale grey in colour.

It fits in the underside of the lower spray arm. not now available, needs a new spray arm. I think its purpose was the clean the top of the filter but without it there is a large hole in the spray arm reducing pressure to the upward facing jets.

Youll be right with cleaning out the blue syphon tubes, if the tubes are blocked it will cause erratic sticking faults.
