I’ve got an old (10+ years) AEG hob, which worked perfectly well until my missus decided to give it a good clean.
After the said procedure has been applied, two of four burners’ piezo ignitions stopped working.

I am unsure of model number as I would need to dismantle the hob but it is visually very similar to this one:

The ignition is not automatic, the knob needs to be pressed down and kept that way until gas ignites (usually takes 3-4 attempts (piezo ‘clicks’).

The hob is cheap so I guess calling for an engineer doesn’t make financial sense. Is there any spare part/DIY solution available for these?

    Many thanks!

    Hi

Sounds like the cleaning process was a little too thorough 😉 Sadly due to forum rules we are unable to advise on DIY gas repairs As the hob is over ten years old I would definately replace it due to availability of spares and cost implications.

    HTH 🙂

    Thanks for your reply.
I was hoping that I can just replace those little white things (ignitors? is this is the right word?) that ignite the gas.
Apart from the ignition, the hob works, we just have to use matches as in good old days…

One thing I forgot to mention – there was a piece of precision-cut foil under each hob. My wife decided to remove it as it was quite unsightly. Can this be the issue?
The trouble is that I don’t even know what these things are called, so searching for replacement part is very difficult.
