ParticipantI went to the above machine product code 914601902(00).
The display and option LED’s remain blank but once the on/off button is activated the door interlock energises.
I have tightened all the connectors between the fascia PCB and control board.
An insulation test shows the dryer element reads 38 M’ohm and the motor 32 M’ohm.
Has anyone come across this before??December 22, 2009 at 10:47 pm #307059leavemetogetonwithit

38 Megohm could be low enough to cause a problem. (In the service manual of a Zanussi I was reading the other day 40 Meg was specified as minimum acceptable for this component.) Try and see if the machine will operate with the dryer element disconnected. Ditto motor.

Thanks Mike,
I disconnected the motor and dryer element but still didn’t get a display. I suspect the earth fault could have damaged the PCB but unable to prove it.

I don’t think that would have damaged the pcb. The whole reason machines refuse to work with these low insulation situations is because the “danger” is being sensed and the pcb is going into self protect mode. At least that is what I have understood from reading various contributions to these forums. It’s normally only catastrophic failures (esp. shorting locks) which get past the protection circuits.

Mike.Would this have prevented the option LED’s from lighting and energise the interlock?

Hi.
Two words.
Board F**ked!
Door lock may have caused it but theoretically can be caused by just about anything so your best bet is to take out the board & see where it is blown & trace the wiring back. Then you could also test the insulation of components as a belt & braces approach.
