KeymasterI’ve had the above AEG Lavamat Turbo washer dryer for just over a couple of years and its now stopped drying.
If selecting a timed drying programme it executes the programme, tumbles the clothes, the fan spins, the condensing water flows through the machine, but no heat. After 40mins cold damp clothes are in the machine.
Called a local “engineer” out to take a look, and he confessed he didn’t have much experience with AEG machines, but checked that nothing was blocked with fluff, and confirmed that the relay for the heater element(s) wasn’t being engaged during the drying cycle. His diagnostic was that the main logic board needed replacing and suggested a figure not far removed from £200 to replace!
His diagnostic was based on the fact that the heater relay wasn’t getting triggered by the main board, the “beeper” doesn’t always sound as strongly as it could, and one of the LED bars in the 2 digit display doesn’t always illuminate.
Does this model have an engineer diagnostic mode that will display any stored error codes, or does the fact that it is not displaying any errors during the cycle mean that there are no errors?
Are there any common faults or things worth checking prior to shelling out or a new main board? I’m reasonably competent with a digital multimeter but mechanically fairly inept!
TIA – Rufus.

Rufus,
Could you please check again the model number of your machine and the PNC number located near the door aperture. Is this a UK model by the way?

Hi RuFus their should be a fault code displayed if a component error is found. most common problem is the condensor getting blocked. Unplug machine, take off lid, take screws out of right side, push back side panel, you will see a plastic duct (the condensor) is it blosked? black fluff like deposits, if so remove clean, reassemble and test. Can tell you how to get into diagnostics to check fault codes stored, but if not showing code may be fault elsewhere. 😆 cab

Thanks for the help so far, I’ll take a look at the condensor this weekend.
Martin, you are right, I did give a wrong model number, wonder where I got that one from! The details of the machine are:
AEG OKO_Lavamat Turbo
Model 16800
Type P6359679
Prod 914601513/00Couldn’t find anything obviously marked PNC on the plate under the door, just Type, Prod and Serial codes.
Yes it’s a UK model.
Thanks again – Rufus.

The most common cause of this failure is the 3 way cold water inlet valve (part no 1249472117 – available via emailing spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk submitting these details 😉 )
