Hi i looked at a AEG L63742 this morning, when the knob was turned to a program but before the start button was pushed a crackling sound came from inside (the customer had also smelt burning). So i jumped straight in and looked at the pcb and wiring on it which showed no sign of damage, so i just pinched together the wiring connectors and then tested it. It made a very brief crackle when the door locked but never again on repeated tests. So i ran it through on diagnostics and got a smell of burning when the heater and recirculation pump were running, so i will order a pump for it but is there anything else i should look for?
I looked at both pumps, interlock and wiring, i saw no sign of damage.
Any help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks Peter 🙂

The drain pump has a TOC fitted so if that ever went AWOL it wouldn’t work anyway. If that same pump had been replaced at some point with a non-TOC type then just touching the stator and it would be red hot! So, in essence, I think you can rule that one out TBH. Though the wash pump could be an issue as they haven’t got TOC’s fitted.

It’s ever more sounding like a PCB problem as diagnostics didn’t throw up an error for you. All in all, very odd fault for sure. 😕

🙂 yes it is isn’t it, nothing has been replaced on this before as it is only 18 months old. I will try replacing the wash pump and see how it goes. Thanks Martin 😀

Could be somewhere in main supply, e.g. RF filter.
